New video showcases winter breaks in Ireland

Ireland is a wonderful tourist destination all year round, but there is something extra special about it in winter. A new video from Tourism Ireland showcases the delights of a winter break on the Emerald Isle.

Delicious winter warmers by a roaring fire, a calendar of buzzing festivals and many, many inspirational landscapes are just some of the highlights of a winter getaway to Ireland, and Tourism Ireland has created a new online film to encourage potential visitors from around the world. Entitled "Winter in Ireland ", the video reminds travellers everywhere just what a great choice Ireland is for a winter getaway.

Tourism Ireland is the organisation responsible for promoting the island of Ireland overseas as a leading holiday destination and the film is being shared through Tourism Ireland’s social platforms, including Facebook (more than 4.3 million fans worldwide), Twitter (500,000 followers) and YouTube. In 2017, the island of Ireland welcomed 10.6 million overseas visitors.

Janet Redler, Chief Executive of Janet Redler Travel and Tourism, said: "Ireland offers travellers so much in winter, from magical Christmas Markets to the excitement of Dublin's New Year celebrations. The delights of a warming drink, or something stronger, in a welcoming Irish pub while listening to traditional Irish music is hard to beat after a day in the open air!

"Perhaps a road trip appeals or maybe a bracing walking tour along the Wild Atlantic Way. Even something more energetic like a cycling vacation might be your thing. Whatever you choose, Ireland in winter offers something for everyone and can be a highly memorable and rewarding experience."
