The leafy London suburb of Richmond upon Thames has become world-famous thanks to its role in the popular comedy-drama about the American football coach hired to coach an English football team. Becoming the most-watched series on Apple TV+ and winning countless awards, Ted Lasso is a TV phenomenon.

Richmond’s historic streets, charming shops and riverside setting provide the perfect backdrop for Ted Lasso. Perhaps the most recognisable location is Richmond Green, a picturesque open space that appears throughout the four series and serves as the heart of the AFC Richmond community. Surrounded by Georgian architecture, independent cafés and traditional pubs, Richmond Green is a historic 12 acre green space, once described as "one of the most beautiful urban greens surviving anywhere in England".

The Prince’s Head on Richmond Green was transformed into the exterior of the famous Crown & Anchor pub, the team’s favourite local, and is one of the show’s most recognisable images. Outside the pub you’ll find Ted and Beard’s bench beside two of Britain’s iconic red telephone boxes – perfect for a photo opportunity!

On a tour of Richmond, you can see the exteriors of the houses used for some of the characters’ homes. The entrance to Ted Lasso’s apartment, in a quaint alleyway called Paved Court, has become a pilgrimage site for fans from around the world, but you can also see Nate Shelley’s home and Rebecca Welton’s elegant property.

One of the highlights of Richmond is its riverside location and several scenes in Ted Lasso have taken place there, on the banks of the River Thames. In real life, this is one of Richmond’s most popular destinations.

Situated between Richmond Green and the River Thames is the site of the former Richmond Palace. While long gone, clues to its existence can be found in local street names such as Old Palace Lane and Old Palace Yard. Old Palace Lane, which features in Ted Lasso, is one of Richmond’s prettiest streets lined with charming cottages and a historic pub.

Further afield, Nelson Road, the home stadium of Richmond in Ted Lasso, is actually Selhurst Park, a real-life Premier League football stadium used by London club Crystal Palace F.C. While stadium tours are not currently available, there are a number of other football stadiums in London that are associated with the show that are worth a visit. Alternatively, we could arrange for you to go to a football match or two to experience the atmosphere seen in Ted Lasso.
