Snowdonia Walking Festival returns for 2018

This year’s Snowdonia Walking Festival takes place on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th November and offers a weekend of walks suitable for everyone in the unique and magical surroundings of Snowdonia National Park.

Centred on the pretty village of Betws-y-Coed, the festival will host a variety of professionally guided walks, which will lead participants through mountains and forests to enjoy some of the best scenery Snowdonia has to offer.

Snowdonia Walking Festival is organised by Breese Adventures and supported by Cymdeithas Eryri – The Snowdonia Society and The Stones Tale. The walks that are taking place include ‘A nature trail for families’, ‘Getting to know your map and compass’, ‘Snowdonia slate trail’ and ‘The story of the stones of Betws-y-Coed’.

The ‘Nature trail for families walk’, for example, is a short walk with fun activities for all the family, while the ‘Getting to know your map and compass’ walk is the perfect opportunity for budding hikers to learn the basics of how to use their map and compass to navigate in the great outdoors. Longer and more challenging routes include the ‘Snowdonia Rhyd Ddu and South Ridge’ walk, which takes in the summit of Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales.

Janet Redler, Chief Executive of Janet Redler Travel & Tourism, said: “It’s great to see the Snowdonia Walking Festival back in the calendar for 2018, as it provides a superb opportunity for walkers of all abilities to experience the beautiful landscape of Snowdonia. Autumn is the perfect time for exploring the countryside and the festival offers a fantastic excuse to get out and enjoy the colours of fall in North Wales.”
