Wythall Estate, an award-winning vineyard near Ross-on-Wye in the west of England, is planning to introduce a new cellar door experience in 2027, which will see private tastings for groups of up to 10 people take place in the Estate cellars, hosted by Vineyard Manager Angus McIntyre.
The Manor House at Wythall Estate
Wythall cellars date back to the late 16th century and a tasting of Wythall Estate wines in this evocative setting is an unparalleled way to experience their range; one rarely found in the English Wine scene.
The Manor House at Wythall has been home to the McIntytre family since 1520 and has never been sold. Its surrounding acres form a rural haven the family is deeply connected to and proud to serve. The vines were planted in 2010, with the first vintage in 2014, and the vineyard benefits from being in one of the finest agricultural growing areas in England.

A cellar door experience is a visit to a vineyard’s tasting room where you can sample, learn about and purchase wines directly from the producer. As well as the new cellar door experience at Wythall Estate, which is by appointment only, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy the vineyard.
Vineyard tours and tastings take place on Saturdays from Easter weekend through to late autumn. These start with a talk on Wythall Estate history before a guided tour of the vineyards. Visitors then get the chance to taste a trio of Estate wines in the Long Room of the Manor House.

During the summer months, there are Wine Garden Sundays. These afternoons run from 12 noon - 6pm and are held on the front lawn by the lake, to the backdrop of the Manor House. They feature all of the Estate’s wines by the glass or bottle with cheese and charcuterie boards.
In 2027, there will also be four highly regarded 'Dine in the Vines’ evenings. These magical evenings, which are not to be missed, offer a unique insight into what’s behind every label as some of their rarer wines are pair with the best dishes the season has to offer. With just 20 spaces at the Estate Table, places are extremely limited. The evenings take place in the heart of the vineyard; where better to taste the wines?

Angus McIntyre said: “As a family run estate, every visit is a chance to spend time with those who call it home. We all live here and play a part in sharing the estate’s story.
“A place like this should not be kept secret. Our wines are our way of sharing these lands with you. Come and wander the vines, connect to the slow rhythm of the seasons, and share a glass with us.
“Whether enjoying a guided vineyard tour and tasting, a celebration of the seasons with dinner in the heart of our vines or simply a glass of wine in our garden, you’ll find the perfect setting to unwind and take in the landscape.”

All of the Estate’s events are founder hosted, so whether it’s a Tasting Tour, Wine Garden Sunday or Dine in the Vines evening, you will be welcomed by those who call Wythall home. There is also always the opportunity to take wine away with you when visiting the Wythall Estate cellar door.
