Gearing up for 2024 at WTM London

Four of the Janet Redler Travel team - Neil, Charlotte, Jan and Daniel - spent a highly productive few days in London attending World Travel Market, the world’s most influential travel and tourism event, and gathering information and ideas to deliver the best for our clients in 2024.

WTM London brings together the international leisure travel community for three days of inspiration, education and networking. This year, WTM welcomed over 43,000 industry professionals from over 180 countries. WTM provides a first-class opportunity each year for Janet Redler Travel to connect with existing partners and to meet exciting new service providers.

Charlotte said: “I really enjoyed WTM. It was great to reconnect with people, to put a face to contacts I have spoken to via email or over the phone, and to meet new people and build new relationships.”

In addition to attending the conference, our team took the opportunity to experience a number of London’s leading tourist attractions, adding to our on-the-ground expertise when planning client tours.

On their first evening in the capital, Charlotte and Jan chose to see the phenomenal ABBA Voyage show, which is attracting fans of the pop group from all over the world to London. “A great experience that got everyone dancing,” enthused Charlotte. “You come out feeling really upbeat and want to continue dancing the night away!”

Meanwhile, Neil and Daniel took a City Cruises river cruise on the Thames, hosted by Visit North Yorkshire and partners. “This was the highlight of the trip for me,” said Daniel. “We spent a very useful evening networking, while enjoying the beautiful views with a glass of prosecco. A fantastic way to see London!”

The next day, the team visited Tower Bridge, the most recognisable bridge on the River Thames, where they admired even more incredible views of London and walked across the heart-stopping glass-floored walkways with the roaring traffic below.

In addition to visiting the British Library, the national library of the United Kingdom and one of the largest libraries in the world, the team visited the renowned British Museum, with its incredible exhibits and fantastic architecture, including the Great Court, which opened in 2000 and was described by The New Yorker as ‘stunningly beautiful’. A must-see on a visit to London!

The team also explored Borough Market, one of the largest and oldest food markets in Britain. Jan said: “We opted to get some lunch at the incredible Borough Market, an amazing source of delicious food and drink. The community spirit and hustle and bustle of the place make you want to stay forever!”

Jan, Charlotte and Daniel were lucky enough to be given a private tour of the wonderful Kimpton Fitzroy hotel in Bloomsbury, a favourite with our clients. Jan described the hotel as a one-of-a-kind, run by excellent and enthusiastic staff, who are a pleasure to work with. “The hotel is a wonder in itself, with the history behind it, and you can understand why the staff are so proud of where they work.”

Before heading home, the team enjoyed seeing the incredible 12-metre-high Christmas tree at St Pancras International Station, decorated with over 3,800 hand-painted books!

Director of Operations Neil Redler said: “This was a very valuable couple of days for us at WTM London, networking and gathering information as we gear up for another busy year in 2024. The trip also gave our team members the chance to reacquaint themselves with some of London’s greatest attractions, helping us to deliver better tours than ever before for our clients.”
