Countdown to English Tourism Week 2017

At Janet Redler Travel & Tourism, we’re looking forward to English Tourism Week 2017 and to shouting about England as a fantastic tourist destination!

English Tourism Week takes place from 25 March to 2 April 2017 and is an annual campaign led by VisitEngland to promote England as a tourist destination.

The visitor economy is worth £106bn a year to England and supports thousands of businesses – in fact it is the country’s third largest employer, with over 2.6 million jobs.

The tourism sector touches everyone from visitors and residents, to businesses and employees, and is a major employer of school leavers and young people. It impacts on the performance of a wide range of other industries too, from transport, retailing and farming to sport, museums and the performing arts.

English Tourism Week is designed to increase awareness amongst consumers and travel businesses of the delights of England, including its variety, accessibility and value. It also aims to raise the profile and understanding of tourism with decision makers, the media and those who work or are considering a career in the industry.

Janet Redler, Chief Executive of Janet Redler Travel & Tourism, said: “We’re looking forward to kick starting the 2017 summer vacation season with English Tourism Week and helping to spread the word about what a wonderful – and affordable – tourist destination England is for our overseas visitors.

“2017 will be another packed year of events and activities in England – from the 200th anniversary of Jane Austen’s death, to the excitement of Hull in Yorkshire beginning its reign as UK City of Culture. That’s not to mention the usual programme of first class sporting and cultural events which take place in England ever year, from Wimbledon to the Chelsea Flower Show. And with exchange rates as they are, there really hasn’t been a better time to visit!”
