Meet our team: Jan Ashley

In the latest of our blogs introducing the team at Janet Redler Travel, we’d like you to meet Jan Ashley, our Head of Business Development.

As Head of Business Development at Janet Redler Travel, Jan’s role involves working with clients from the very first enquiry through to tour planning, helping transform ideas into memorable travel experiences.

“My role is varied and fast-paced,” says Jan, “combining relationship management, strategic planning and creative problem-solving, before projects are handed over to our operations team for delivery.”

Jan has always had a passion for travel and discovering new places, cultures and experiences. “Having visited 35 countries, my excitement for exploring continues to grow with every trip. I enjoy the idea of helping others create meaningful memories through travel, as it leaves a lasting impression in a way that very few experiences can.

“What I love most about travel is the way it creates memories that stay with people forever. A single trip can become someone's favourite story, or even a life-changing experience, and being part of that is incredibly rewarding.”

And this helps to explain why Jan values the personal approach to every tour that is so important at Janet Redler Travel.

“We are a hard-working team, but there's also a lot of personality, support and laughter along the way. It’s fantastic to work with a team that genuinely cares about delivering exceptional experiences. Being part of a smaller business means you can truly see the impact of your work and there’s a real sense of collaboration.

“It's particularly fulfilling when we've helped design a tour and clients come back to say how much they appreciated our recommendations—like choosing the right driver for a specific region or trusting our local insight. Seeing that pay off when our drivers go the extra mile is incredibly satisfying. They don't just transport guests; they often take time to research areas in advance and suggest places visitors wouldn't have found on their own.”

Some of the most memorable feedback, adds Jan, has been from guests who discovered unexpected personal connections, such as drivers helping to trace family history, locate ancestral villages, or even find family graves. “Being part of moments like that, where a service turns into something deeply personal, is what makes the work feel truly worthwhile.”

Jan recalls that one of the most memorable tours she helped organise was a multi-day festive itinerary centred around Christmas (Jan's favourite time of year). “What made it stand out wasn't just the logistics or the scale of it, but the atmosphere the entire experience created - everything about it just felt genuinely magical in that ‘only at Christmas’ way.“

There are so many incredible destinations to enjoy in the UK and Ireland, enthuses Jan. “The rugged beauty of the Scottish Highlands is unforgettable, with its dramatic landscapes and sense of tranquillity. Ireland is a firm favourite though, for its warmth, charm and craic — it's hard not to have a good time there!

“I visit North Wales often, not only as it's on our doorstep, but for its wilderness, hidden spots and fresh air – there's nothing quite like the expanse and peace you can find on top of a mountain or by the sea!”

Outside of work, Jan enjoys staying active, spending time with friends and family and planning her own trips. “I love exploring new places, trying new things or just getting out for a good walk or scramble and a reset.”

And when it comes to visiting the UK and Ireland, Jan advises visitors to take their time and not try to fit too much in. “It is far better to experience a few places properly than rush through many and not really have the chance to take it all in and enjoy it or really experience it. Be open to local recommendations (they are often the best), explore beyond the main tourist spots and embrace the differences – that's where the magic really is.”

If you or your group would like to enjoy a tailor-made tour of the United Kingdom, Ireland or Europe, please contact our friendly team today and Jan could soon be managing your enquiry!
