Meet our team: Dawn Redler

In the second of our blogs introducing the team at Janet Redler Travel, we’d like you to meet Dawn Redler, our Director of Business Development.

While Dawn is officially Director of Business Development at Janet Redler Travel, her role is quite hands-on, which means she looks after the day-to-day running of things ‘behind the scenes’ as well.

As Dawn says: “From planning and logistics to making sure everything runs smoothly for our clients, my job is to keep things organised and on track so every tour is as seamless and enjoyable as possible.”

With a background is in planning and operations, it felt like the right move for Dawn when an opportunity came up to join the family business. “I've always loved organising things down to the tiniest detail, and travel gave me the perfect outlet for that – but with the added bonus of working in an industry that's all about people, experiences, and discovery.”

One of Dawn’s favourite places is Ireland, as she explains: “The people are so warm and welcoming, and the music, dancing, and stories just bring the whole place to life. I especially love visiting the lighthouses – there's something magical about them, and the history behind how they were built and run is fascinating.”

Dawn adds that she gets a real buzz from discovering new places – especially the kind of hidden gems that aren't always in the guidebooks. “The UK might look small on a map, but it's packed with surprises, and I love being able to share those special spots with our visitors.”

Dawn says that one of the most memorable tours she has delivered was the very first full tour she organised for Janet Redler Travel. “It was a Quilting Tour that had been postponed for two years due to COVID, so there was a lot of pressure to get everything spot on. I didn't know much about quilting at first, but I threw myself into it and learned loads. It was such a rewarding experience, especially seeing how much the group enjoyed themselves.

“It's always great when clients tell us it's been "the vacation of a lifetime" – that sort of feedback makes all the planning worth it. Another big win is when people come back to book with us again. That's when you know you really got it right the first time.”

When it comes to making the most of a vacation in the UK or Ireland, Dawn advises travellers to be open to the unexpected and to try not to rush everything.

“Some of the best memories come from small, unplanned moments – a friendly chat in a pub, a hidden village you stumble across, or a suggestion from a guide that takes your day in a whole new direction. And whatever the season, bring layers – the weather likes to keep us on our toes!”

Outside of work, Dawn says she loves spending time with her family and being outdoors. “I'm a big fan of cricket and rounders, so you'll often find me on a pitch during the summer evenings. My daughters both play as well, which means we are lucky enough (well, perhaps they don't agree) to spend lots of quality time together. I also enjoy learning about history too, which probably helps explain why I love my job so much, and naturally I'm always thinking about our next family trip!”

And the best thing about working at Janet Redler Travel? “Definitely the team! We're a tight-knit bunch and everyone genuinely loves what they do. There's a great energy in the office, and we all share the same goal – to create amazing travel experiences for our clients.”

If you or your group would like to enjoy a tailor-made tour of the United Kingdom, Ireland or Europe, please do contact us today. Dawn and the team would be delighted to deliver your dream vacation!
